Vacation - Danny Banfield
© 2011 Danny Banfield - SOCAN

(CHORUS) One week of vacation is all I need
I'll live on wine and bread, and catch up on my sleep
Make love to my love...find something to read
One week of vacation will get me up to speed

All those things I don't do, I'm gonna get 'em done
Get my world together....and get some sun
Connect with my children, let 'em see my pride
Then again I might put another week aside
(Chorus...."Two weeks...")

Everyone I don't call, I'm gonna call 'em up
Play some baseball, watch the Stanley Cup
So much I wanna do, so much I gotta paint
But this week of vacation is postponed due to rain....so...
(Chorus..."Three weeks...")

I gotta work, but when my working week is through
Then I gotta forget my work, and put my arms 'round you...

.....And maybe write a song, learn a lick or two
Put my ripped jeans on, throw back a few
But sadly I figured out, no matter how you try
Four weeks of vacation....five weeks of vacation...
No amount of vacation, could ever satisfy

Another Part of Your Heartbeat
© 1988 Danny Banfield - SOCAN

Just another case of the kicks....Rock 'n' Roll or pick up sticks....
Caviar Spread or lollipop licks
It's just another part of your heartbeat...it's just another food that you eat
It's just another part of your heartbeat...it's just another high

Just another case of the willies....Sounding dumb or acting silly....
Looks that kill like typhoons on still seas
It's just another part of your heartbeat....It's just another world for the meek
It's just another part of your heartbeat....It's just another high

Just another case of beer (hiccup)....How the hell did I ever get here?
(the last thing I remember I was massaging Darlene...
....or DeLoris... or some 'D' name)
It's just another part of your heartbeat....It's just another warm sheet
It's just another part of your heartbeat...It's just another high

Just another case of the blues....Better go buy yourself a new pair of shoes
When the whole world's crazy you know you can't lose
It's just another part of your heartbeat....It's just another pot-holed street
It's just another part of your heartbeat....It's just another high.....
It's just another high....
HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII......

Just another high....Don't be shy....
It's just another way to get by....
It's just another high....It's just another high....
Don't be shy....Don't be shy....
It's just another way to get by....Just another high....

Poverty and Providence - Danny Banfield
© 1995 Danny Banfield - SOCAN

She dresses in rags, but she could wear satin
She curses and begs, and prays in latin
She’s the queen of the alley around my corner
How can she dream when everybody’s warning her of everything
Well, she’s younger than me and it makes me feel sorry
And the princes walk by for her lack of a dowry
In a dripping doorway, she takes her solace
She can’t go inside for municipal policies on vagrancy

(Chorus) And why should I be dry,
When I haven’t done a thing to deserve my comfort
It’s crazy by design,
But there isn't much difference between
poverty and providence in my mind

He’s spends most of his days on his knees with a bottle
He’s got beautiful eyes, but his teeth are rotten
I’ve been lucky to have a conversation with him
‘Bout the state of our youth,
and a book by Dickens that he found one day
Well, he used to be quite a mathematician
But it didn’t add up, so he went down to the mission
Met the queen of the alley by a smoking barrel
Made a toast to the fact that they could double the charity together
(Chorus)

“Wake me gently, so I can find my eyes
Throw me pennies, and put on your disguise.”

Well, the stories are old and complicated
How the future’s so bright and the pain has abated
These are fairy tales from Ottawa and Washington
But reality is obvious in watching someone eat from garbage cans

(Chorus x 2)
